What does the Ministry of Foreign Affairs say?
Before you travel outside of Sweden, it is a good idea to check the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' recommendations and see if there is any travel advice for your destination. Such advice is a guide, but it is up to each traveler to decide for themselves whether to proceed with the trip, cancel it or postpone it.
When you go to the USA
Travelers to the United States need to apply for an entry permit, called ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization), no later than 72 hours before departure. It is the responsibility of each passenger to apply for and have their ESTA approved. At check-in, it is checked electronically via the passport, and if the information is incorrect, entry into the United States may be denied.
If you get sick in Europe
The European Health Insurance Card is a free card that entitles you to medically necessary, public healthcare during temporary stays in the 28 EU countries as well as in Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. You receive care on the same terms and at the same cost (sometimes free) as the country's own residents. The card can be ordered free of charge from Försäkringskassan.

Blacklisted airlines
In order to further improve aviation safety in Europe, the European Commission, in consultation with the Member States' aviation safety authorities, has decided to ban certain airlines from operating in European airspace. The ban applies to airlines with safety deficiencies or insufficient oversight by their home country authorities. The European Commission regularly updates the list of airlines subject to this ban.
When you go to the UK
Swedish citizens do not need a visa for tourist visits to the UK for up to 6 months, but you must have a valid passport – a national ID card is not sufficient. It is important that the details in your booking match your passport. Upon entry, you may be asked to show a return ticket and proof of sufficient funds for your stay.
